A two-tone colourway pairing mystic black with velvet grey. At two-seater size the contrast does the job a patterned fabric would, breaking up what would otherwise be a large block of single colour, but without a pattern that dates. The black reads softer than it would against white because grey sits beside it. The photographs on this page show how the two shades are arranged on this piece.

The two-seater is the hardest size to get right. Too narrow and it seats one adult comfortably and two awkwardly; too wide and it stops being a two-seater and starts eating the room. At 50 inches across, this one gives two adults a seat each without the arms pressing in, while still fitting a wall a three-seater would overwhelm.

This warranty does not cover upholstery or fabric, normal wear and tear, fading due to sunlight, or damage caused by misuse, improper cleaning, incorrect installation, or unauthorised repairs. The warranty is valid only for the original purchaser and for residential use.

Vacuum both shades weekly with an upholstery brush; the black panels show lint and the grey panels show pale dust
Blot spills immediately with a dry white cloth, working inwards from the edge of the mark
When damp-cleaning near a seam, work away from the pale panel so colour is not dragged from the dark fabric onto it
Spot clean with a mild fabric shampoo on a damp cloth, then dry naturally away from direct heat
