In velvet, grey stops being a safe choice and starts being an interesting one. The pile shifts tone as you move, so across 50 inches and a 34-inch back the sofa reads as several related greys rather than one flat shade — which is the whole reason to pay for velvet over fabric.

Only 28 inches deep, several inches shallower than most two-seaters. Premium velvet over a seasoned solid wood frame, 32-density foam, 16-inch seat, 25 kg, 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Product Details

At 50 inches wide and only 28 inches deep, this is close to the least floor two adults can sit on comfortably. Most two-seaters run 32 to 38 inches deep; Ethos gives up several inches of that and puts the comfort into a 34-inch back instead. In a small flat or a narrow room that is a trade worth making, because the sofa stops stealing the walkway while the tall back means you are properly supported rather than perched.

In velvet, grey stops being a safe choice and starts being an interesting one. Velvet has a pile, so the shade shifts as you move around it: deeper where the pile lies away from you, lighter where it lies towards you. Across 50 inches with a 34-inch back, that means the sofa reads as several related greys rather than one flat tone, which is the whole reason to pay for velvet instead of fabric.

The seat sits at 16 inches, so most adults rise from it without pushing off the arms. The upholstery is premium velvet over a seasoned solid wood frame, with 32-density foam that holds its shape rather than flattening into a dip. It weighs 25 kilograms. Velvet wants a little more care than flat fabric, so it suits a formal sitting room or a bedroom better than a high-traffic family room. Three-year manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects.

Warranty

Trevi Furniture Corp Pvt. Ltd. offers a 3-year manufacturer warranty on sofas, covering defects in the internal frame, foam and padding, and mechanical parts under normal household use. If a manufacturing defect is verified, the company will repair or replace the defective part at its discretion.

This warranty does not cover upholstery or fabric, normal wear and tear, fading due to sunlight, or damage caused by misuse, improper cleaning, incorrect installation, or unauthorised repairs. The warranty is valid only for the original purchaser and for residential use.

Care and Maintenance

Vacuum weekly with a soft brush attachment, moving in the direction the pile lies rather than against it
Shading and pressure marks where the pile is crushed are normal in velvet; lift them by brushing gently with a soft dry cloth
Blot spills immediately and never rub, as rubbing permanently flattens the pile in that spot
Use a dry upholstery foam suitable for velvet rather than wet cleaning, which leaves rings on pile fabric
Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight, which fades velvet unevenly where the pile catches the light

3 years manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects

Why does the sofa look like several different greys?

That is the velvet pile, not a fault. Velvet reflects light differently depending on which way the pile lies, so across 50 inches and a 34-inch back you see several related tones. It is what gives velvet its depth and the reason to choose it over flat fabric.

Is velvet harder to look after than flat fabric?

A little. Velvet should be brushed rather than scrubbed and cleaned with a dry upholstery foam rather than water, which is why it suits formal rooms and bedrooms better than high-traffic family spaces.

Is 28 inches deep enough to be comfortable?

Yes, because the comfort comes from the 34-inch back rather than the depth. You sit upright and supported instead of reclining.

How much wall space do I need?

Allow 50 inches of wall and 28 inches of clearance from the wall into the room, which is several inches less than most two-seaters need.

What does the warranty cover?

Three years against manufacturing defects. Normal wear, velvet fading and damage from misuse or improper cleaning are not covered.

How heavy is it?

25 kilograms, light enough for two people to carry up a flight of stairs.

What does the warranty cover?

Sofas carry a 3-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in the internal frame, foam and padding, and mechanical parts under normal household use. If a manufacturing defect is verified, we repair or replace the defective part.

It does not cover upholstery or fabric, normal wear and tear, fading from sunlight, or damage from misuse, improper cleaning, incorrect installation or unauthorised repairs. It is valid for the original purchaser and for residential use. A small number of pieces carry a different term, which is always stated in the Warranty tab on that product.
